Preserving Traditional Marriage and Strengthening Families

The church I belong to recently released the following statement:

In March 2000 California voters overwhelmingly approved a state law providing that “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.” The California Supreme Court recently reversed this vote of the people. On November 4, 2008, Californians will vote on a proposed amendment to the California state constitution that will now restore the March 2000 definition of marriage approved by the voters.

The Church’s teachings and position on this moral issue are unequivocal. Marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God, and the formation of families is central to the Creator’s plan for His children. Children are entitled to be born within this bond of marriage.

A broad-based coalition of churches and other organizations placed the proposed amendment on the ballot. The Church will participate with this coalition in seeking its passage. Local Church leaders will provide information about how you may become involved in this important cause.

We ask that you do all you can to support the proposed constitutional amendment by donating of your means and time to assure that marriage in California is legally defined as being between a man and a woman. Our best efforts are required to preserve the sacred institution of marriage.

I would like to publicly state my support for this amendment.  I feel strongly that responsible citizens should establish and protect the family as the basic unit of society.  I know that strong families lead to a strong nation.  I know that weak families preceed moral decline.  If this amendment passes, it will strengthen all members of society, regardless of religious views.

If you live in California, I urge you to register to vote today and then to vote on Tuesday, 4 Nov 2008.  Your voter registration form must be postmarked no later than Monday, 20 October 2008.  I promise you that as you act to support the family in your community, you will feel in your heart that your choice is right.

    I agree with you.
There is a word on Bible that only a woman and a man can be married.
Although I’m far away ( Indonesia ), but I support that.
    God Bless You

Well, that would be all fine in a perfect world, but guess what… this isn’t one and most likely never will be. Just wait until your time ends to find that perfect place.. I hope you do find it, wherever that may be.

    There are four options:

    1. Abolish the Institution of Marriage.
    2. Heterosexual relations are legally the Perpetuation of the Human Species.
    3. Homosexual relations are legally the Perpetuation of the Human Species.
    4. Heterosexual relations and homosexual relations are both legally the Perpetuation of the Human Species.

If the law says homosexual relations can perpetuate the human species then homosexual relations can perpetuate the human species. Since when does the law have to be rational? Have you ever noticed Homosexual Marriage advocates will give any and every reason in the book for marriage EXCEPT the perpetuation of the human species?

We should eliminate all of this nonsense and replace all constitutions with the Holy Bible. Then marriage would be one man and one woman, forever until death do they part. Divorce and adultery would be illegal, blue laws could be reinstated, Sunday church attendance would be mandatory for everyone, blacks would be returned to slavery, women would return to being chattel owned by their husbands with no rights and life would proceed on this earth as God had intended it to be according to the Bible. America would then be a glorious place to live, just like Iraq and Iran.

I agree 100%. We are actively supporting prop 102 here in Arizona to amend the State Constitution to define marriage between one man and one woman. Good for you!

Let me clarify that I agree with your original post, not with the crazy comment before mine. Sarcasm not appreciated.
